Allow Everything to Happen
Illustration, Children’s Book
This project is a children’s book that explores the inner struggles and emotions we often face but rarely speak about—anxiety, nervousness, and fear of the unknown. The inspiration grew out of my own experiences when I first came to America, feeling both excited and apprehensive about joining new groups, attending parties, and starting conversations. In those moments, I often found myself trapped by worry, anticipating the worst before anything had even happened.
Through personal reflection and conversations with others, I realized these feelings are not unique to me. Many people—adults and children alike—experience the same hesitations before stepping into unfamiliar spaces. This realization became the foundation of my project.
The central idea of the book is simple but powerful: let things happen without fear. By embracing experiences instead of resisting them, we often discover that what we imagined to be overwhelming is not as daunting in reality. The book is written for children, but it is also meant for anyone who has felt anxious, afraid, or uncertain before facing something new.
Ultimately, this work is a gentle reminder that our worries do not define us. By choosing not to let negative thoughts take over in advance, we open ourselves to the possibility of connection, growth, and joy.
